Event Details

Freshman Convocation will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Reed Arena. Freshman Convocation is the official beginning of new students’ entry into the Texas A&M University Community of Learners and Scholars.

Date

Sunday, August 26, 2012 is the day before the first day of fall semester classes.

Time

2:30 p.m. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m., so freshmen and their families should arrive and be seated prior to the time the ceremony starts.

Location

Reed Arena, which is located on Olsen Blvd., on the campus of Texas A&M University. Parking is available adjacent to Reed Arena.

Directions

Reed Arena is located on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The arena is situated on the west side of the University’s campus, just off George Bush Drive on the corner of Olsen and Kimbrough Boulevards.

Reed Arena parking can be accessed from Kimbrough Boulevard, Chandler Drive, and Penberthy Street.

Parking

Free parking is available at Reed Arena. A free shuttle service will take freshmen and their guests to and from the Freshman Convocation Lunch. Dress

Freshmen are asked to wear attire that is considered “Business Casual.” For men, this means long pants, sport shirt or button down shirt. Women should wear dress pants or a skirt and top, or a dress.

Seating

Families are invited to attend Freshman Convocation and celebrate their students’ entry into the Texas A&M University Community of Learners and Scholars. The Class of 2016 will have the honor of sitting together on the floor and lower risers of Reed Arena to provide a sense of class strength and unity. Seating is available for families and friends in designated sections separate from freshman class seating but providing a wonderful view of the students and the ceremony. Signs and ushers in Reed Arena will provide directions to freshmen and their families.

Services for Guests

Reed Arena reserves the top three rows around the mezzanine seating for mobility impaired guests. To best serve our guests, it is requested that anyone who will require a Sign Language interpreter please call Ms. Melissa Lucas at (979) 862-7333 or send an email to mlucas@athletics.tamu.edu by noon on Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
